The Kidney Thieves
Biography
The Kidney Thieves are a distinctive, genre-busting fusion act at the forefront of the Brisbane music scene. This tight 5-piece blend rock, funk, psychedelic, classical, dance, tribal, metal and western influences, and are earning a growing name for their consistent, high energy live shows. After less than 12 months on the local music scene, The Kidney Thieves already boast a large local fanbase, an impressive debut EP, a huge reception at this year’s  Adelaide Fringe Festival, and performances with acts such as Faker, Intercooler, Little Birdy, Endorphin, The Hot Lies, Avalon Drive, The Follow, Polyvinyl, Transport and many more.

With a penchant for stage monikers and ludicrous song titles, this group offer a refreshing experience, including many instrumental tracks. The music is technical, with tempo changes and complex time- signatures, yet remains fun, accessible and danceable to a broad range of musical tastes.

Exploding onto the scene mid 2005, TKT have rocked some of Brisbane’s most reputable venues - The Tivoli Theatre, The Rev, The Waterloo and Jubilee Hotels, The Alley Bar and Her Majesty’s Bar, to name just a few. The band’s first interstate tour (Vic & SA) in Feb ‘06, coinciding with the debut release, Midnight Manoeuvres, met with capacity crowds and critical acclaim.

“The new material shows a band really hitting its stride and evolving into a fine rock outfit with influences as diverse as Gomez and Fantomas. And while the influences can be identified, the truly impressive thing is that the group is developing a sound all of its own. This combined with the frenetic energy of its live shows and the mad charisma of front man Venables, make The Kidney Thieves one of the best live bands around.”
